This guidance applies to LU assets and is associated with projects intended to improve the environmental attributes of an existing asset and the environmental conditions of the surrounding area.

This guidance also applies to new assets designed to incorporate these features.

This guidance does not apply to the conventional maintenance-improvements of an existing asset.

This document assists Engineers within TfL/LU or interested practitioners/contractors associated with projects that involve TfL/LU assets to define civil and environmental engineering requirements for installation of Green Infrastructure to TfL/LU's particular challenging environment.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance regarding Green Infrastructure (GI) design and installation on London Underground (LU) network.

The purpose of the guidance is to support the following LU standards that relate to civil, track and premises assets:

a) S1023 'Infrastructure Protection'

b) S1052 'Civil Engineering - Gravity drainage systems'

c) S1054 'Civil Engineering - Earth Structures'

d) S1135 'Premises - Finishes'

e) S1165 'Landscaping and vegetation'.
