scope:
This standard applies to:
a) commissioning new Ethernet transport circuits at 1G, 10G and 100G;
NOTE: The tests can be used to commission circuits on networks on a green field build or networks on a brown field build.
b) commissioning new Ethernet services at 1G, 10G and 100G line rates;
c) maintainers, if TMTH does not exist to confirm service performances when Ethernet services faults are rectified; and
d) laboratory or proof-of-concept performance threshold tests for services at 100Mbps, 1G, 10G and 100G line rates.
The standard does not cover tests for:
e) underlying cabling infrastructure;
f) individual transmission equipment;
g) network synchronisation;
h) PDH and SDH services;
i) transport circuit or Ethernet services with 10G WAN Phy; and
j) IP services.
Purpose
This document details the tests which enable Ethernet transport circuits and Ethernet services on Network Rail's packet-based transmission networks to be commissioned uniformly and provide assurance that the services are fit for handover to operations.
