This standard forms parts of the testing required by NR/L2/TEL/30098- Testing and Commissioning of Telecommunications equipment and Systems, and applies to:

a) commissioning new Ethernet Transport Circuits at 1G, 10G and 100G line rate

b) commissioning new Ethernet services at CIRs less than the line rates

Maintainers wishing to verify services' performances after fault resolutions may apply this standard if specific service restoring testing procedure is not available.

The standard does not cover tests for:

a) product acceptance 

b) underlying cabling infrastructure

c) xWDM optical circuit provisioned on the optical network

d) individual transmission equipment 

e) network synchronisation

f) PDH and SDH services.

g) Ethernet Transport circuit or Ethernet services with 10G WAN Phy

h) Fibre Channel services

i) CPRI services

j) IP services

k) SSI circuits specified in RT/E/S/17005 supported over Ethernet service

Purpose 

This document details the tests which enable Ethernet Transport Circuits and Ethernet services provided on Network Rail's packet-based transmission networks to be commissioned uniformly.
