This standard applies to operational land that could be affected by mineral extraction.

The standard also applies to all mineral extraction consultations and associated works received by Network Rail including:

a) Surface mines (including quarries);

b) Underground mines;

c) Hydraulic fracturing.

Purpose

The purpose of this module is to define the roles, responsibilities and procedures for reviewing, responding to and monitoring Town and Country Planning consultations for mineral extraction.

The main risk associated with outside party mineral extraction operations uncontrolled ground movement which could impact on the safety or performance of the railway.
