Guidance for Service Control in the event of a chemical / hazardous material release

scope:
This guidance applies to Service Control teams in the very extreme circumstance of a hazardous material being released within a station or train, with the intention of causing mass casualties (see Section 3), and also the response to the release of CS gas, Mace or pepper spray (see Section 7).
It does not apply to reports of:
• A single person collapsing on a station or a train, commonly known as a Person taken Ill On a Train (PIOT) as a result of a medical issue, or
• An attack on an individual utilising a corrosive substance such as an acid or alkali.
Purpose
This guidance is intended to help Service Control staff take the safest action for customers and staff in the event of a hazardous material release or chemical attack within a London Underground station or train.
