scope:
This standard applies to all projects and the organisations working on projects that change, renew, enhance or remove Network Rail infrastructure assets. This standard does not apply to works undertaken by the maintenance organisation.
This standard applies to any works which affect the track system. Examples include but are not limited to:
• track renewals / remodeling
• line side or under track excavations (by any discipline)
• installation of rail joints and closure rails
• lifting & lining the track
• temporary or permanent works requiring temporary removal of ballast profile (e.g. construction of platforms, signal bases, under track crossings or other structures)
• installation of cable management sleepers into existing consolidated track and other similar isolated disturbances
• recovery of troughing routes
• drainage works
• any works elsewhere in the railway system that could affect the stability of the track (e.g. piling etc.)
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to provide procedures for the identification, recording and management of sites requiring Critical Rail Temperature (CRT) determined by NR/L2/TRK/001/mod14,
