scope:
This procedure applies to:
a) the Track engineering content of all projects proposed to be implemented for which Network Rail is the Infrastructure Manager including feasibility studies,concept, Approval in Principle (Form A) and detailed (Form B) designs, construction, entry into service and completion; and
b) proposals for temporary works (including stage-works) associated with such projects.
These procedures do not apply to:
c) normal Day to Day Maintenance work that is not included within the requirements of a Cat M check as per Appendix B; and
d) work carried out under emergency conditions.
The requirements of this standard are complementary to those contained within NR/L2/INI/02009 in which the general engineering assurance requirements for projects are contained. This standard does not replace any content within NR/L2/INI/02009.
Assurance arrangements for considerations related to Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) are not covered by this standard.
Assurance of drainage designs - including where required by this standard to be shown in conjunction with track designs - is governed by NR/L2/CIV/003.
Purpose
This document describes the engineering assurance processes that apply to the design and construction of track assets on Network Rail owned infrastructure so that they operate as intended.
