Purpose of This Order.

This order provides guidance for the design and evaluation ofPerformance Based Navigation (PBN) Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs). For the purposes ofthis order, PBN IFPs are those based on Area Navigation (RNAV) or Required NavigationPerformance (RNP) to include transitions to an Instrument Landing System (ILS) or GroundBased Augmentation (GBAS) Landing System (GLS) final segment (see Appendix C and Order8260.19, Flight Procedures and Airspace, Section 4-6 and Chapter 8 paragraph "Equipmentrequirements notes"). This order contains guidance that is pertinent to 14 CFR part 95 and 97.
