Signalling Design Handbook - This standard should only be used for reference to ensure 'The Control of Risk' until the compliance date of its replacement standard is reached, upon which this standard will be withdrawn. The development of all new processes and procedures should be to the replacement standard
|Publication Date:||6 March 2021|
This standard lays down the requirements for:
a) the design of signalling works applicable to the infrastructure;
b) the design of signalling systems;
c) the design of software and data used in programmable signalling systems; and
d) the tools, including software, used in design.
It applies from scheme conception through to acceptance into service or, where applicable, to decommissioning and disposal.
This standard sets out the requirements for the production of signalling design detail to support:
a) safe development and design of new and altered signalling systems impacting on Network Rail controlled infrastructure;
b) safe interfaces between all parties and systems;
c) design details that are prepared and presented clearly, accurately, consistently and unambiguously; and
d) client's specified requirements are met by a design that is fit for purpose.
