scope:
This standard lays down the requirements for:
a) the design of signalling works applicable to the infrastructure;
b) the design of signalling systems, whether lineside or train-borne;
c) the design of software and data used in programmable signalling systems; and
d) the tools, including software, used in design.
It applies from scheme conception through to acceptance into service or, where applicable, to decommissioning and disposal.
Purpose
This standard, sets out mandatory requirements and mandates standards for the production of signalling design detail to support:
a) safe development and design of new and altered signalling systems impacting on Network Rail controlled infrastructure;
b) safe interfaces between all parties and systems;
c) design details are prepared and presented clearly, accurately, consistently and unambiguously; and
d) client's specified requirements are met and the design is fit for purpose.
