Purpose

Network Rail is committed to employee wellbeing. The business wants its people to feel supported, be able to thrive and perform to their potential. To enable this, Network Rail has a duty to ensure that the health of our people is not adversely affected by the work we ask them to do nor that their health adversely affects their work. This includes establishing policies and processes to effectively manage any work factors may adversely affect employee mental wellbeing, together with the provision of mental wellbeing guidance, training opportunities, resources and support services to enable our employees to look after themselves, look out for one another through peer to peer support and gain early access to specialist support.

This business process is designed to:

a) provide an effective and consistent process for how line managers can assess, control and manage the risk of work factors adversely affecting the mental wellbeing of employees;

b) outline how line managers and employees can discuss and identify support required for any non-work factors that may adversely affect the mental wellbeing of employees.
