Scope.

This standard describes the Mechanical Equipment and Subsystems Integrity Program (MECSIP) which defines the requirements necessary to achieve mechanical equipment and subsystems integrity while managing cost and schedule risks through a series of disciplined, time-phased tasks. It provides direction to government personnel and contractors engaged in the development, production, modification, acquisition, and sustainment of aircraft. This standard applies to all mechanical equipment and subsystems of an aircraft, as defined in 1.4, regardless of aircraft type or procurement strategy, for the entire life cycle of the aircraft.
