This document covers the configuration of all Route Services Information Technology ,Telecommunications (RSIT), Signalling and Electrification and Power Firewalls. 

Purpose 

The purpose of this document is to provide general design standards in line with the standards and frameworks listed in Table 1, but not limited to, to guide the design team within Network Rail Telecoms and Route Services Information technology when configuring firewalls for use by the organisation. Though the purpose of this document is to provide general design standards on securely configuring the basic elements of a firewall, actual configurations will not be provided. This is because Configuration of firewalls is based on multiple factors such as device make and model, user requirements, syntax, management interface, etc.
