This specification covers chemistry, tensile strength, yield strength and elongation requirements of the most frequently specified grades and product forms of wrought aluminum alloys used in the Corporation's products. It also covers surface finish designations, permissible alternates and preferred sheet/plate thickness and tolerances. Refer to MPAPS C-1059 for aluminum tubing requirements used primarily for engine air/fluid systems, such as air intake, charge air coolers, etc.

APPLICATION

This specification applies to aluminum alloys intended for foil, sheet, strip, plate, treadplate, extrusions, forgings, bars, rods, wire, and tubing. It does not apply to castings (see MPAPS C-8). It is generally based upon the Aluminum Association "Aluminum Standards and Data" (ASD) handbook. Aluminum alloy compositions listed herein are based upon their Aluminum Association (AA) designations.
