scope:

a) This Defence Standard (Def Stan) defines tests required for the approval of the following deck covering types for use on Royal Naval (RN) Surface Ships and Submarines. It covers the following material types:

1) Rubberised (resilient) deck coverings and underlays

2) Epoxy Resin deck coverings and underlays.

b) It should be read in conjunction with Def Stan 02-157 Part 1: Requirements for Deck Coverings Deck Preparation & Laying Procedures, General Requirements.

c) It does not cover fire tests applied to deck covering materials as these are already defined in Def Stan 07-247: Selection of Materials on the Basis of their Fire Characteristics.
