This standard establishes criteria for qualification of alternating current Class 1E motors, located in mild and harsh environments in nuclear power generating stations in order to demonstrate their ability to perform their intended safety functions under all required conditions.
The purpose of this standard is to provide direction for the implementation of the requirements of IEC/IEEE 60780-323 20161 as they apply to the specific features of alternating current Class 1E electric motor qualification. This standard also provides guidance for qualification of refurbished motors and insulation systems for motor rewinds.
