Scope.
Part 5 of this standard practice provides further details to refine or bound (constrict) the performance of each legacy measurement addressed.
Applicability.
Part 5 of this Standard Practice was developed to retain applicable legacy test requirements, test methods, and support processes to be used for performing testing of fiber optic components. The rapidly changing state of the art in fiber optic technology makes it essential that some degree of flexibility be exercised in enforcing this document. When there is a conflict between this document and the platform specification or contract, the platform specification or contract should take precedence. Where obsolescence or other issues are such that the measurement requirements specified for the refinement or bound (constraint) herein cannot be implemented, users should submit a description of the issue along with a request for clarification or with proposal for redefining the requirement to consider for incorporation into this standard practice to: DLA Land and Maritime Columbus, ATTN: VAT, Post Office Box 3990, Columbus, OH 43218-3990, or emailed to FiberOpticGroup@dla.
