This guidance applies to DLO staff and contractors dealing with syringes and sharps at any London Underground site.

Purpose

The purpose of this guidance is to ensure that DLO provides a safe work environment and recognises that the risk of injury from sharp implements requires specific management and control. The purpose of this guidance 'sharps' includes, syringes, needles, scalpels, razor blades, broken glass or any other sharp implement with the potential to cause a penetrating injury if not handled in a safe manner.
