Purpose/Material Description.

This specification covers the properties of a highly stabilized, acid resistant, injection moldable, polyoxymethylene (acetal) copolymer. Acceptable fuels are gasoline and alcohol contented gasoline, and biodiesel as defined in Table 1.

Symbols.

The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is >POM<.

Applicability.

Typical applications include the following: fuel system components where increased resistance to acid exposure is necessary. Use in gasoline and diesel fuel is acceptable to a continuous use temperature of 100 °C. It is not to exceed 100 °C in a continuous use application due to potential degradation of the acid neutralizers under extreme thermal duress. The material may see excursion temperatures up to 120 °C.
