This Code of Practice is applicable to all electric points heating installations whether they be on non electrified tracks, 25 kV electrified tracks, 3rd rail D.C. electrified tracks or 4th rail D.C. electrified tracks.

The principles of this Code of Practice affect the design and installation criteria of the complete electric points heating system.

Purpose

This Code of Practice states the best practice for the design, layout arrangement, installation and commissioning requirements of generic types of electric points heating systems.

Detailed requirements of the points heating components and sub-systems are contained in Railtrack Line Standard RT/E/S/40045 which should be read in conjunction with this Code of Practice.
