This document applies to all Track Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Support Engineers (Track), Infrastructure Maintenance Engineers, Principal Train Borne Monitoring Engineer and the Head of Track Engineering, Network Rail HQ.

Purpose

This document defines the procedure for defining that track geometry recording is conducted at the required frequencies using approved methods and that records of the track geometry are made during these monitoring runs with subsequent distribution, analysis and retention of the records. The monitoring process must also identify and report the location of sub-standard track. Where sub-standard track is identified this procedure includes those actions to be implemented to maintain the safety of the line until any necessary track repair is completed.
