The Scope of this document is to provide guidance on the application of the requirements for the life cycle of Deep Tube Tunnel assets owned by LU.

The information contained in this guidance is derived mainly from historical information contained in existing LU documents and therefore does not necessarily reflect current good practice. Where possible, existing historical information has been supplemented by references to current good industry practice.

In lieu of the impending completion of Crossrail, the following four additional Crossrail documents have been added as guidance:

a) G2105 Construction Railway Operations,

b) G2106 SCL Exclusion Zone Management,

c) G2107 Pressure Systems and

d) G2108 Occupational Exposure to Respirable Dust.

This guidance should be used, in conjunction with LU standard S1055, by any party undertaking works to provide new, alter existing, undertaking maintenance or otherwise impact Deep Tube Tunnel assets owned and/or operated by LU.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to support London Underground (LU) standard S1055 'Civil Engineering - Deep Tube Tunnels and Shafts' and give guidance on established good practice solutions that meet the requirements of S1055.
