This Product Specification applies to all products to be used for cable troughing on Network Rail Infrastructure external to building and lineside equipment accommodation. The requirements for cables and other services to be enclosed in service routes; protective backfill and other protections to buried services are outside the scope of this document.

Typically troughing will be installed at ground level adjacent to the operational railway, but where appropriate, may be installed on supports to negotiate obstructions.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide a performance specification for products to be used as cable trough. Where the requirements between Concrete Based Products and products of other materials are significantly different, these are included in their appropriate sections or specifically stated.
