This guidance applies to the MoM and the erection of scaffolds on escalators and the movement of materials in lifts and should be followed by all London Underground (LU) staff and contractors who require a MoM licence.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for the Movement of Materials (MoM) applications and authorisation, including the erection of scaffolding on escalators. This document should be read in conjunction with LU Rule Book 9 'Lifts, escalators and moving walkways'. The primary function of this guidance is to ensure Safe System of Work (SSoW) have been agreed which protects the asset from damage.

Note: If approved processes are not followed damage may occur to the machine which may not be immediately apparent. This guidance should be read in conjunction with the relevant LU standards, S1097 , Attachment 9, S1093 Attachment 8 or S1095 Attachment 5.
