Guidance for Train Operators in the event of a chemical / hazardous material release on a train

scope:
This guidance applies specifically to Train Operators in the very extreme circumstance of a hazardous material being released on a train, with the intention of causing mass casualties amongst the passengers on the train (see Section 3), and also the response to the release of CS gas, Mace or pepper spray (see Section 6).
It does not apply to reports of:
• A single person collapsing on a station or train, commonly known as a Person taken Ill On a Train (PIOT) as a result of a medical issue, or
• An attack on an individual utilising a corrosive substance such as an acid or alkali.
Purpose
This guidance is intended to help Train Operators take the safest action for themselves and customers in the event of a hazardous material release or chemical attack on a London Underground (LU) train.
