Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.

Purpose/Material Description. This specification covers the properties of natural, Ultraviolet (UV) and heat stabilized, Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (TPV), containing fully crosslinked Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) elastomer particles dispersed in a continuous Polypropylene (PP) matrix. These materials can be processed by extrusion, injection, and blow molding.

Materials covered by this specification are divided into two (2) classes based on cure chemistry, as defined in the following:

• Class I materials are non-phenolic cured natural materials and can be developed in any GM color

• Class II materials are phenolic cured natural materials that are only suited for dark colors (i.e., dark grays, blacks)

If no class is specified on the drawing or math data file, a Class I material is assumed and shall be used.

Material types are delineated by hardness values. The types and their corresponding hardness available are identified in Appendix A, Table A1.

Symbols.

The material abbreviation according to ISO 18064 is >TPV-(EPDM + PP)<.

Applicability.

Typical applications include the following: seat belt sleeves, knobs, keypads, mats, seals, trays, liners, trim lips, overmolds, and parts where softness and conformity are needed.

Remarks.

None.
