This Written Practice mandates the qualification and certification requirements for personnel undertaking safety related non-destructive testing of rail and associated components on Network Rail infrastructure, not otherwise determined by SNT-TC-1A (2001) or ISO 9712:2022. 

Certification covers proficiency in one or more of the following methods: 

a) ultrasonic testing; 

b) eddy current testing; 

c) penetrant testing; 

d) magnetic testing; 

e) alternating current field measurement; and 

f) visual testing. 

Purpose

This Written Practice establishes the control and administration system for the training, examination, and certification of personnel performing non-destructive testing (NDT) on Network Rail Infrastructure. 

This Written Practice follows the requirements of SNT-TC-1A (2001) and uses the guidelines laid down in ISO 9712:2022.
