Introduction

The third rail d.c. traction system is supplied from 660/750V traction rectifiers via d.c. track breakers. The main purpose of the track breaker is to protect and isolate the system from faults.

At no time should this be compromised in order to meet traffic requirements.

The Area Electrification Technical Engineers will be responsible for maintaining the up to date records of all previously calculated d.c. section "safe" settings and carrying out all future d.c. section "safe" setting calculations.

Master copies of d.c. track section data held on computer disk will be updated regularly by the appropriate Area Electrification Technical Engineer and sent to the Electrification Technical Engineer Southern House Croydon at three monthly intervals.

The Electrification Technical Engineer is the holder of the master library for d.c. track section data.
