Scope and Applicability.

This instruction issues specific Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) guidance and policy. Except as otherwise delineated in this instruction, waivers to these provisions must be requested from the applicable Type Commander (TYCOM). A copy of the TYCOM approved waiver must be sent to the CNO Search and Rescue Model Manager (SARMM). Waiver requests must indicate the purpose and time extension requested. Approved waivers must be in writing and documented in appropriate training records. Recommended change requests for this instruction can be submitted utilizing OPNAV 3130/17 Change Recommendation Form.

Purpose.

To implement standardization in naval Search and Rescue (SAR) policies, procedures, training and evaluation programs. This is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety.
