inactive
Organization: NR
Publication Date: 1 April 1999
Status: inactive
Page Count: 20
scope:

This specification applies to all T-CODs for use on track circuited electrified and non-electrified lines. T-CODs shall not be used where a checkrail is present alongside a running rail or a fourth rail is installed.

Purpose

This standard states the minimum requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of a portable track circuit operating device (T-COD) which is used to present a low impedance circuit between two running rails forming a track circuit in order to safely and reliably operate the track circuit to its occupied state. The occupied state of the track circuit is used as part of the protection arrangements for personnel working on railway lines under track possession.
