Organization: NR
Publication Date: 1 June 2008
Status: active
Page Count: 9
scope:

All employers are legally obliged to provide employees with a safe working environment and safe system of work. Maintenance does not expect any employee or contingent labour to work in an unsafe manner to achieve results. If a task cannot be undertaken safely then it shall not be done. Staff may refuse to work on the grounds of Health and Safety by informing their supervisor immediately.

This Worksafe Review Procedure shall enable the Maintenance management teams to be confident that if the worksafe procedure has been used they have reviewed the circumstances in a robust and systematic way so that the concerns are given serious consideration.

This document applies to all maintenance work carried on the Network Rail controlled infrastructure by Network Rail staff or contingent labour under its control.

Purpose

To provide maintenance staff, either directly employed by Network Rail or via a third party, with a mechanism to deal with the review of situations where staff had felt that they or others may have been in serious or imminent danger.
