scope:

This guidance applies to all Track engineers inspecting the quality of track products being supplied to LU. Guidance should be followed in these circumstances:

a) Introducing a new product to LU

b) A currently approved product is being manufactured/supplied by a new provider

c) Any current product that is manufactured to either a mould or pattern where the mould or pattern has been refurbished/repaired

d) Any authorised changes to a currently approved product, e.g. material change

e) In response to problems arising during the use of any product to LU.

Findings from the FAI should be captured in a report.

Purpose

To provide guidance for carrying out First Article Inspections (FAI) on new or modified track products to be used on the London Underground (LU) network, to ensure the product meets the requirements.
