scope:
This standard describes the process for certifying competence management systems. It emphasizes the correlation between business goals and KPIs and its effect on current and future competence needed to fulfil an organization's goals.
The core process is the alignment of a organization's strategic direction and KPIs, including changes introduced such as new equipment and new working methods, with competence needs in a systematic way.
A competence management system may help to achieve set goals and enables timely human resource development, succession planning and knowledge management, while at the same time providing an overview of the competence status of individuals, teams and the organization.
The standard covers the primary elements illustrated in Figure 1-1.
In addition, the standard defines requirements for the administration of the competence and career management system and the management of operational and support staff, as appropriate.
