LUL - S1909
Requirements for matching electrical loads to Low Voltage supplies
Organization: | LUL |
Publication Date: | 1 November 2023 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 21 |
scope:
This standard applies to:
a) all LV electrical loads and equipment installed on the LU network or supporting the railway, where LU is the Infrastructure Manager, including the feeding arrangements from the point of supply to the point of use
b) all of LU and all LU suppliers
c) this standard does NOT apply to Direct Current (DC) Traction Systems.
The matching of LU loads to LV supplies shall be brought into compliance with this standard as new works are undertaken, but not retrospectively.
Note: This standard supports the requirements for the provision of power supplies for the purpose of lighting of underground assets in accordance with LU standard S1066 'Lighting of London Underground Assets'.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to:
a) define LU's minimum requirements for matching Low Voltage (LV) electrical loads and equipment to LV power supplies
b) capture LU's future requirements for infrastructure changes, such that new capacity is integrated into the LU infrastructure and critical loads are matched to the available capacity
c) clarify the minimum requirements for LV equipment resilience against LV supply events (outages, interruptions etc.) and the permissible feeding arrangements to support project delivery, while safeguarding the need to optimise operational reliability and remain compliant within statutory limits.
Note: LU standard S1911 'Load Change Application Requirements for Electrical, Compressed Air and other Services' is to be read in conjunction with this standard.
