Sec.2 provides a description of the principles used in this guideline for further detailing of hazards and how to address these in a safety philosophy.

This document outlines the principles of a safety philosophy for handling threats, incidents, and consequences. It provides guidance on how to integrate relevant preventive and mitigating measures through a bow-tie model.

The document provides guidance on creating safety philosophies for specific parts of the Society's rules, limited to electrical energy storage systems in this first edition.

The guidance is addressing relevant hazards related to designs where effective technical solutions to prevent or mitigate an incident may not yet be addressed by the prescriptive rules. This guideline may consequently not cover all relevant hazards for a specific design.
