Draft Std for IEEE Standard for Synchrophasor Data Transfer for Power Systems
| Organization: | IEEE |

| Status: | pending |
| Page Count: | 70 |
scope:
This standard defines a method for exchange of synchronized phasor measurement data between power system equipment. It specifies messaging including types, use, contents, and data formats for real-time communication between phasor measurement units (PMU), phasor data concentrators (PDC), and other applications. This revision includes i) communications between a single PMU and a PDC, ii) PDC functions dealing with multiple PMUs, and iii) onwards communications from the PDC.
Purpose
The purpose for this standard is to facilitate data exchange among measurement, data collection, and application equipment. It provides a defined, open access method for all vendors to use to facilitate development and use of synchrophasors. It is a simple and direct method for data transmission within a phasor measurement system which may be used directly or with other communication protocols. This method was initially established by IEEE Std C37.118-2005, Standard for Synchrophasors for Power Systems, and subsequently by IEEE Std C37.118.2-2011.
