The recommended practices in this publication are limited to those relating to the inspection and testing of shop or field fabricated atmospheric FRP aboveground tanks, vessels, penetration fittings, internals and other similar containment equipment. The scope for tanks and vessels is limited to the foundations or supports, bottom, shell, roof and attached appurtenances and nozzles to the limit of the first flange, threaded joint or first bonded end connection outside the tank or vessel.
Tanks and vessels operating above atmospheric conditions and high performance composite applications for the aerospace industry including advanced fiber materials (e. g., boron, S-glass, carbon, graphite aramid) are outside the scope of this document. Piping and ductwork are outside the scope of this document.
Operation and maintenance procedures are outside the scope of this document. Also, this document is not meant to provide interpretation of regulatory or legislative requirements related to FRP containment equipment, nor does it endorse or recommend particular materials, equipment, suppliers or manufacturers.
