This specification applies to all Network Rail maintained signalling infrastructure.
This specification provides information relating to the establishment of effective equipment inspection regimes to confirm that all signalling infrastructure systems and equipment and the associated working practices remain in a state suitable to allow the safe and reliable operation of trains.
Competency and licencing of staff is specified in NR/L2/SIG/10160.
Purpose
This specification is intended to augment and amplify the responsibilities placed upon the infrastructure manager as stated in Clause 8.3 of Railway Group Standard GK/RT0210.
As such, this specification sets out the principles and methods for the inspection of signal engineering maintenance assets by applying a regime of signal equipment inspection thereby confirming that the signalling infrastructure is fit for purpose and conforms with the conditions of its approval and design.
