This standard applies to grooved pins, half-length grooved with gorge (press-fit fasteners) used for holding retaining rings, retaining washers, springs, etc., the pin being seated firmly in a drilled hole of appropriate size. Such pins have a nominal diameter d1 of 1,5 mm to 25 mm. A distinction is made between pins of type A (with slot for retaining rings as in DIN 471), type B (with slot for retaining washers as in DIN 6799) and type C (with rounded slot).

NOTE Tolerance class H11 is recommended for the hole into which the pin is to be inserted (see DIN EN ISO 8750).
