This procedure applies to all persons, including contractors, engaged to carry out works on Network Rail Infrastructure. It is intended to reduce the risk of damage to buried services during the process of carrying out ground penetration works on the Railway Infrastructure.

Purpose

This procedure sets out the Network Rail Projects process for locating buried services prior to ground penetration. This SPP must be read in conjunction with RT/LS/S/011, RT/LS/P/028, RT/E/WI/00114 and NR/PRC/MPI/CP0024 Control and Use of Metal Pins and Spikes on Network Rail Infrastructure. This SPP does not supersede the requirements of RT/LS/S/011 and RT/LS/P/028.
