This specification establishes component requirements for chemical fire extinguishing systems of the fixed (stationary) type whereby an aqueous potassium carbonate (K2 CO3) solution (stowed in cylinders pressurized to 175 pounds per square inch (lb/in2), gage at 70 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) (21.1 degrees Celsius (°C)) with nitrogen) is expelled automatically or manually through a fixed piping system and suitably designed nozzles into burning deep fat fryers to extinguish the fire by saponification of the surface fat.
