La presente Norma è la versione italiana della Norma Europea CENELEC EN 60831-1 più Corrigendum, equivalente alla Pubblicazione IEC 831-1 (1988) più Modifiche 1 (1991) e 2 (1993), con il testo originale nella versione inglese a fronte del testo italiano.
La Norma si applica alle unità e alle batterie di condensatori impiegate particolarmente per il rifasamento di impianti di energia in corrente alternata con tensione nominale inferiore o uguale a 1000 V e frequenza compresa tra 15 e 60 Hz. Essa ha lo scopo di:
a) fissare regole uniformi riguardanti le prestazioni, le prove e i valori nominali;
b) fissare precise regole di sicurezza;
c) fornire una guida per l'installazione e l'esercizio.
