Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren für die gravimetrische Bestimmung des Wassergehaltes eines Bodens als Volumenanteil auf der Grundlage des Verhältnisses gemessener Wassergehalte bekannter Trockenrohdichte fest.
Diese Internationale Norm gilt für alle Arten nicht quellschrumpfender Böden. Sie ist als Referenzverfahren anzuwenden (z. B. Kalibrierung von indirekten Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Wassergehaltes).
