Modular Signalling: Appendix C: System functionality

inactive
Organization: NR
Publication Date: 2 June 2012
Status: inactive
Page Count: 36
scope:

This document applies to all projects deemed to be Modular Signalling Schemes and being implemented on Network Rail infrastructure.

The principles and derogations described in this section of the handbook may only be used in the context of a Modular Signalling Scheme and use in any other context or project type is not supported by this handbook.

Purpose

This document describes and defines the system functionality provided by a Modular Signalling System. These descriptions and definitions are supported by an application statement to aid designers in understanding how to apply them in the context of a Modular Signalling Scheme. Where the application contravenes current Railway Group standards or Network Rail standards, the relevant number of the non-compliance is included.

The document also details functionality that may be provided by conventional signalling methodologies and technology but is not inherent within a Modular Signalling System; functionality provided outside the bounds of a Modular Signalling System will incur additional cost and time to design.
