Diese Norm gilt für B-Druckkupplungen mit einem Nenndruck PN von 1,6 MPa (16 bar), die zum Anschluss von B-Druckschläuchen nach DIN 14811 dienen.

Diese Norm gilt nicht für besondere Anforderungen (z. B. Öleinsatz, aggressive Atmosphäre oder aggressive Flüssigkeiten), für die B-Druckkupplungen nach DIN 86203 (aus Kupfer-Zink-Legierung nach DIN EN 12420) oder B-Druckkupplungen aus nichtrostendem Stahlguss nach DIN EN 10283 verwendet werden.
