scope:
Purpose. This specification defines the procedures to be followed for the electrodeposited cadmium plating of fasteners, fastening systems and other related hardware primarily as a corrosion protective plating.
Classification. The plating shall be of the following types and classes as specified. 1.2.1 Types. Types refer to post plating treatments or lack thereof.
Type I - As plated
Type II - Supplemental chromate treatment
Type III - Supplemental phosphate treatment
Classes. Classes refer to the thickness of the cadmium plating (reference 3.4.1).
Class 1 - .0005 inches minimum thickness (13 micrometers)
Class 2 - .0003 inches minimum thickness (8 micrometers)
Class 3 - .0002 inches minimum thickness (5 micrometers)
Recommendations for improvement or correction of this specification should be directed to the Aerospace Industries Association.
