scope:

This standard deals with work to improve the performance of underground drainage and sewerage systems and related structures fully or partially incorporating the existing system.

This standard does not cover:

- work involving renovation using centrifugally cast cement mortar;

- ground water lowering work (cf. DIN 18305);

- the installation of underground drainage and sewerage systems (cf. DIN 18306);

- laying of pressure pipework (cf. DIN 18307);

- grouting operations to fill cavities in the ground or in rock from the sewer or from other structures (cf. DIN 18309);

- the repair or strengthening of components of the drainage or sewerage system using concrete or similar materials applied by spraying and compacting in one operation (cf. DIN 18314);

- trenchless pipelaying using the bursting techniques or microtunnelling (cf. DIN 18319);

- work to preserve and repair concrete structures and components (cf. DIN 18349);

- laying of tiles and slabbing in drainage or sewerage system components or structures (cf. DIN 18352);

- plumbing work associated with the installation of pipework for gas, water and drainage services inside buildings and other structures (cf. DIN 18381).

DIN 18299 clauses 1 to 5 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, the latter shall take precedence.
