scope:
This standard deals with the construction of underground cavities in soil and rock (e.g. adits, tunnels, caverns, shafts) which are not directly intended for the extraction of minerals.
The construction of underground cavities shall include the excavation (breaking, loading and transport of soil and rock under ground) and the supporting of the cavity.
This standard also applies to supporting work in cases where this also serves to line the cavities.
This standard does not cover:
- borehole sinking operations (cf. DIN 18302);
- earthwork and trenchwork outside the underground cavities (cf. DIN 18303);
- trenchless pipelaying (cf. DIN 18319).
Unless otherwise specified, this standard does not apply to:
- earthwork (cf. DIN 18300);
- ground water lowering work (cf. DIN 18305);
- grouting operations (cf. DIN 18309);
- sprayed concrete work (cf. DIN 18314);
- concrete work (cf. DIN 18331).
Clauses 1 to 5 of DIN 18299 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, the latter shall take precedence.
