This standard deals with the anti-corrosion coating of steel structures/components for which a structural analysis or a technical approval is required. It also covers coating by thermal spraying or hot dip galvanizing and cases where an anticorrosion coating is to receive an intumescent coating.

DIN 18299 clauses 1 to 5 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, the latter shall take precedence.
