Aim.The aim of this publication is to improve inter-operability among NATO helicopter forces engaged in land operations by establishing common principles and procedures for battlefield helicopter operations. The basic focus is on Article 5 operations. The publication has been structured into four PARTS for ease of reference. PART 1 concerns the Principles and Characteristics of helicopter employment and roles. PART 2 provides a guide to Command, Control and Communications. PART 3 focuses on Operations and PART 4 describes Helicopter Tactics, Techniques, Procedures and Training.
